The practicality of installing a storage solution for commercial buildings depends on the number of consumers and the main switchboard solution, as well as the readiness for electric vehicle charging and the possibilities for establishing a solar power plant. Additionally, there must be sufficient free space in the technical room or in the immediate vicinity of the building for batteries and inverters.
If a solar power plant is installed at the commercial building and the excess produced electricity is sold to the grid, it is reasonable to add a storage solution to increase self-consumption of the produced electricity, which can be connected to an electric vehicle charging station. Adding storage is also important in the sense that it is not necessary to increase the main fuse for charging electric vehicles, as the storage solution allows for smart management of stored electricity consumption and electric vehicle charging, ensuring sufficient power reserve.
As the electricity consumption needs of different commercial and industrial buildings vary, it is necessary to analyze the storage capacity and inverter power considering the consumption and solar power plant production data. Since storage can ensure supply security during power outages, it is reasonable to consider in storage capacity planning that 4-5 hours of consumption reserve is guaranteed. The system can use inverters (PCS) of different powers, which convert electricity into direct current (DC) for storage in batteries and back to alternating current (AC) for consumption of stored electricity.
We offer a high-voltage (HV) battery system as an energy storage solution for commercial buildings, with an operating voltage range of 728–936 VDC. This voltage is achieved by connecting battery modules in series.
We use the CNTE Star H solution, which is liquid-cooled and well suited for outdoor conditions. The system’s storage capacity reaches up to 254 kWh, with a charging power of 100–125 kW. CNTE storage systems are modular, allowing for easy system expansion.
